Kanye Gets No Respect (cause he's black)

Alright, my very first blog.  I am already liking the idea of this.  Most of my blogs are going to tend to be all over the place and I would typically deal in forms of hypocrisy that I see from politicians.  I am also going to come out and say that I am a 23 year old Republican, and will tend to lean towards the right in my commentary.  Now that I have the intro taken care of for my blog, we can get down to business.
I love to surf the web and check out the latest in pop culture.  I think that modern pop culture is a good indicator of where our society is at (YIKES).  While doing this I managed to run across this gem from Kanye West.  The first comment I saw that he makes is when he learned that Britney Spears would get to open the MTV VMA's. He said something along the lines that she hasn't had a number one record in 5 years, and maybe its just cause of his skin that he didn't get the opening nod.  Wow.
According to MSNBC Kanye West made $16.9 million in 2005 earnings.  What makes me the saddest about this comment was that I would much rather listen to Kanye rap then Britney sing anyday.  Instead of saying something that would have been true like, "Britney Spears is nothing more than a media spectacle with no current singing credentials," he makes it into a black vs. white issue.  This incident had nothing to do with skin color, the fact is MTV wanted the person who they thought would create the most news to open.  Honestly, I think MTV was hoping for a panty-gate from Britney live on their awards show.
Let's really look at this issue.  This isn't the first time Kanye has made it a point that he is getting the short end of the stick because he is black.  In fact, the same night backstage after the awards show was over, Kanye threw another fit.  He didn't win one of the five awards he was up for, and he has to say that its because he is a black man.  He finishes by saying that he won't ever return to the awards show.  Boo hoo.
Kanye, I have a piece of news thats important...  ITS THE F#$@IN' MTV VIDEO AWARDS.  Who cares if you got the stupid award or not.  I could take the typical white Republican route and try and build my credentials on this subject by talking about all my black friends that I have, but I won't.  Instead I will tell you what this really looks like.  It looks like a whiny multi millionaire who knows his music is good (the record sales show that) but is frustrated that the "industry" just won't give him the credit.  So what does he do?  He sits down and starts screaming to the heavens that the media moguls can't see past his black skin.  Give me a break.
If a black man comes forward and says he was passed up on a raise at his job over his skin color, I would call it a travesty.  I'm not ignorant to the fact that racism still exists, but this is so far off that base it is driving me crazy.  Who knows, maybe I am wrong.  It could be that every black man feels for Kanye West, but as a broke college student, I have a hard time finding that sympathy.  Britney has consistently made the headlines on a regular basis for the past year, in fact more than when she was actually singing.  MTV was hoping to give the media something to talk about and they did.  MTV gave us a crappy performance from Britney and a reason to not like Kanye as a person (not as a rapper, because lets face it, he is a talented producer/mc/etc).
If this offends some of you that a 23 year old white male is saying all of these things about a culture he isn't a part of, keep in mind that white kids buy the records too.  I think I speak for a lot of music fans when I say I just want to hear your music, not some multi millionaire claiming that he is getting the shaft.
